This assistance can be provided to the elderly, the physically disabled, the mentally raterded and the developmentally disabled.

This service provides an evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for children with chronic handicapping of disabling conditions. Such disorders or handicaps include: Certain disorders involving the bones, joints, or muscles; heart defects; epilepsy and other convulsive disorders; neurological disorders (cerebral palsy and spina bifida); certain operable eye conditions; kidney and urological disorders; cleft lip/palate and other condition requiring plastic surgery, such as burns; certain conditions such as hemophilia, cystic fibrosis, and sickle cell anemia; ear, nose and throat conditions requiring treatment by an otolarynologist.

Qualifying families are issued certificates or vouchers and locate a rental unit themselves. The Housing Authority then helps pay the rent. In addition, 60 units of public housing are available in Raleigh County.
