Such disorders or handicaps include: Certain disorders involving the bones, joints, or muscles; heart defects; epilepsy and other convulsive disorders; neurological disorders (cerebral palsy and spina bifida); certain operable eye conditions; kidney and urological disorders; cleft lip/palate and other condition requiring plastic surgery, such as burns; certain conditions such as hemophilia, cystic fibrosis, and sickle cell anemia; ear, nose and throat conditions requiring treatment by an otolarynologist.

Qualifying families are issued certificates or vouchers and locate a rental unit themselves. Section 8 - These programs are income based and the eligibility guidelines are set by HUD.
